History :

My name is Feliciano Pedro Francisco Domingos. When I was born, my mother called me Uaxixima, which means 'Suffering', because I was born in a harsh environment of war at that period.I was born in Dala Kabala; I write it with a K because we most of the time call the place DK (pronounced Da Kuppa) as a simplification of Dala Kabala.Dala Kabala was formed by the merging of different family groups that lived isolated in smaller settlements around the region what is now Dala Kabala. Dala Kabala is a community-oriented place. People hold strong family values and individual interdependency. Within a kilometer distant, there used to be a portuguese colony called Muloco. Some of the colonial building still stand today. Surely the village Dala Kabala and other villages around Muloco were strongly impacted by the presence of those colonizers. My parents and grandmother (on my mother side) claim that the interaction between colonizers and the true owners of the lands was always poisoned with racism by the portuguese. People were forced to work so much and paid to too little or nothing. Men were sent far from their homes to work at coffee plantations. Sometimes, the portuguese would send a man to the plantations as a sanction of a 'crime', and of course without a payment. Some of Dala Kabala personnel worked directly with them in their homes as cooks and other forms of servitude. My father worked as a cook for the portuguese settlers when he was young and he was paid food and sometimes negligible amount of money. Any way, that's just a portion of the history of Dala Kabala. But the most important history of Dala Kabala does not involve the oppression by the portuguese settlers.Long ago, people migrated from the North regions due to the falling of the Ndongo kingdom. That displacement of peoples forced by ancestors to flee to the regions where it is now DK, Muloco (the village, not the portuguese settlement), Dambi, Kaxamba, Kangulu, Muinza, Catete and other places. The most spoken language in the regions mentioned is Kimbundu. Some assimilated people speak broken portuguese mixed with Kimbundu.Dala Kabala villagers are a proud people. They enjoy self-reliance and work hard every day on their farms growing corn, peanut, lattice, manioc, beans, tobacco, among other produces. There are two main rivers around Dala Kabala: Kiongua, which is bigger than Kiatowa. Both rivers are rich in fish. We drink directly from the rivers using vases such as mbinda. That's basically it. More will be added if requested.
