Dear Madam or Sir,
I was in the US. Army at Finthen Army Airfield may 1961 to May 1963. In the town of Finthen coming on the road from the Airfield on the right hand side at the bottom of the small hill was a Guest House. The Name was The White Rose. It was painted white with blue trim. The man who at the time ran it was known to me to be Mr.Henry Troop i don't remember his Wife's
name. On the side of it and in the back was an auto repair station that also sold PB. gas.
Henry also rented out rooms that were in the back second floor. The toileten was also outside in the back along with a big stone cooking pot to boil new wurst. He also kept a live pig back there. This now for me to know is important in that is the Guest House still there. If not could you tell me what took place with it and what year it was removed. Also coming from the Field on the left hand side almost at the top of the hill was a Shell gas station. I had my 1959 Volks Wagon painted there.I have many good fond memories of The Town of Finthen. I also remember when i was there a Boeing 707 Lufthansa crashed not to far from Finthen.I hope to hear from you soon.
