Village Administration :

Igbekebo,formerly called Gbekebo,is the headquarters of Ese odo Local Government Area in Ondo State of Nigeria. Gbekebo was the headquarters of the defunct Ese odo District Council in the defunct Western Region of Nigeria. Richly endowed with bitumen, Igbekebo housed one of the six bitumen exploration wells drilled by ShellBP during post World War II exploration activity.

The title of the traditional ruler of Igbekebo is Odogun, who appoints chiefs. he also appoints Baales for villages like Igangbo and Osari. The first Odogun was Oba Mein from the Tighiri ruling house. He was succeded by Oba Emmanuel Omotumilara Egbukuyomi from the Pekagha ruling house. Oba E.O Egbukuyomi was installed in March, 1994. The appointment of the ruler is by rotation between the three major quarters in the town: PEKAGHA, OKOTO and TIGHIRI
