Asiwa is corrupted from the word \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"Nsiwaa\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\". A man from Kokofu the traditional área capital settled at Asiwa in the ancient days. He nursed cocoa seedlings and sold them to the public. Cocoa seedlings are called cocoa \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"Nsiwaa\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" in the Twi language. People who went to buy the seedlings used to say \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"they were going for \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'Nsiwaa\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'. This changed to Asiwa.

Location :

Asiwa is the capital of Bosome Freho District created in 2008. It has a Senior High Technical School, a Health Centre, and a new Guest House (PAKAS LODGE) has been built and operates from December 2013. Kufuor Buses run every 15 minutes to and from Kumasi. Taxis are available.

There are a number of curches. The Presbyterian Church of Ghana is the oldest And celebrated their centenary in 2010. Other churches include Church of Pentecost, SDA, Roman Catholic, Assemblies of God, etc. There is also a mosque nearby.

Pakas Lodge is the newest addition for visitors. This new Guest House is opened in December 2013. It is located on Residency Road and close to the District Health Centre, the Police Station, the Senior High School and within close reach from all the surrounding towns and villages.

Matilda Bonsu Multipurpose Hall at Pakas Lodge serves as Hall for conferences, marriages, indoor games and other activities. Workshops, church services are also held upon request.
