About village :

The village is now inhabited by several Arab tribes most bliss tribe then slaves and about 20 people from the minority retina that inhabit the Nineveh Plain.
تل عاكوب قرية في ناحية النمرود قضاء الحمدانية محافظة نينوى وهي تبعد عن الموصل بمسافة (32) كم , وقيل انها كانت دير باسم دير يعقوب وذكر ياسين العمري في منية الادباء تل يعقوب : كبيرة كثيرة الخيرات واهلها مسلمون.
مدينة درّسكا مذكورة في النص المسماري (77202 ADD -) من العصر الآشوري الحديث باعتبارها من مدن محافظة خلزي واذا ما صح الافتراض القائل بأن مركز محافظة خلزي كان في منطقة السلامية الحالية فان بقايا مدينة درّسكا ينبغي ان تكون فيإحدى المواقع الأثرية المحيطة بالسلامية والاصح هي تل عاكوب.
ولربما كان تل عاكوب على بعد حوالي (4) كم إلى ال ونحن في القرية دائماً ما نجد بعض البقاية الأثرية مثل الجرات والحلية الاثرية خصوصاً بجانب الوادي الذي يمر من خلال القرية . والقرية تحاط بسلسلة من التلال المنخفظة نسبيا . وقبل حوالي ١٠٠ سنة كان يسكنها الكثير من اليهود الذين هاجرو منها في بدايات القرن العشرين ، واسمها مشتق من اللغة العبرية حيث ان كلمة \"تل\" نسبة الى \"التل\" و \"عاكوب\" نسبة الى النبي \"يعقوب\" وفي العبرية تعني \" تل يعقوب\" وهي تبعد حوالي ٦ كم عن عاصمة الاشوريين الثانية \"كالح\" التي انشائها الملك اشور \"ناصر بال\" التي تقع بالقرب من نهر دجلة . والان القرية مسكونة من عدة قبائل عربية اكثرها قبيلة النعيم ثم العبيد وحوالي ٢٠ شخص من الاقلية الشبكية التي تسكن سهل نينوى .

Be the valley through which filled with water and along its banks types of plants grow and the edible mushrooms and fields of wheat and barley.And near the tourist signs of Nimrod and there are large statues Brass man and the body of a bull and a lion., Tkonehr Tigris & Nimrod Forest.Are the most beautiful in the beginning of summer in the harvest season where deployed on its territory large piles of straw.
تكون جميلة في فصل الربيع حيث تود المناظر الخلابة .ويكون الوادي الذي يجري من خلالها مليئ بالماء وعلى ضفافه تنمو انواع النباتات والفطر القابل للأكل وحقول الحنطة والشعير. وبالقرب منها اثار النمرود السياحية ويوجد بها تماثيل كبيرة براس انسان وجسم ثور واسد.، وتكون قريبة من نهر دجلة وغابة النمرود. واجمل ما تكون في بداية الصيف في موسم الحصاد حيث تنتشر على اراضيها اكوام القش الكبيرة.
