About village :

Hello, I am very happy there is something about Lofigué, my village. Lofigué is one of the biggest village of the 'cercle' of Kadiolo in the Sikasso Region in the most southern part of Mali. The village is divided into three big districts: Basso; Kapaga and Toro. The "Samogoso" is allied to Basso. The main activities of the population is agriculture; cattle breeding and small business... Just before the raining season which starts around End of April Beginning of May a celebration is organized every year, the 'Samogori". It is a traditional famous dancing which lasts a full week. A very nice time. The beautiful dance is two sections: the first performed by men for three days; the second by young girls for three days. The whole celebrations start on Friday and end on Thursday... Will tell more in the upcoming articles.Seydou Traoré; Lofigué - Basso (Translator/Interpreter)

History :

The village was founded by a hunter called Zié Traoré. He first setlled in the district of Kapaga. Then one of his wifes moved to a placed called Basso (mother land in Bambara). The first place of settlement is then called Kapaga meaning in Senoufo "the incomplete or deducted village" in remembrance of the left mummy. Any time the children pay a visit to their mother they said, "we are going to Basso: Mother's house".
When other settlers came they did not settle in Kapaga nor in Basso. They went to a new land called TORO (passed in Senoufo). THat means those people just passed.
THen the Samogo, fishmen came and settled at on the other bank of the river Lofigué.
I should also remind that fishing is one of the activities of the village in addition to agriculture and cattle breeding...
