About village :

Koreng Village is found in Malera Sub-county, Kumi District, about 8 km from the

district headquarters. It is neighboured by Malera, Kacoc, Akisim, Anapa-Ongino,

Kangole, Koconga and Okonyele villages whose population is Iteso. There are 510 farm

families or households in total. Administratively, the village is further divided into 6

divisions namely: Abilaep, Aputon, Amailuk, Kakore, Gagam, and Kimureria. Each

division is headed by a clan leader and based on the traditional clan system and

administration.

Subsistence farming is the main source of livelihood. Crops grown include sorghum,

potatoes, finger millet, cassava, groundnuts, cow peas, cotton, green grams, beans,

sunflower, and maize. Charcoal burning, and selling of firewood have become

predominant activities. The vegetation is mainly savannah grassland with scattered trees.

The soils are mainly black cotton soils with pockets of sandy soils.
