History :

About 1916, Oba Eweka II, Uku Akpolokpolor, the Oba of Benin Kingdom, required the services of Elephant Hunters around the villages of Uhie, Obaretin and Ologbo who had reported that their crops had been destroyed by the Elephants.
Oba Eweka II, sent for Iyase of Benin, resident at Ogboka Street and the Eson of Benin, Resident at Ibiwe Street and informed them of the problems of the villages.
Iyase of Benin, requested the Odigie Obagie at Uvbe Villages who was an ardent hunter to undertake the business. The Eson of Benin sent a message to Usen town to call Pa. Idahosa O. Osunde to hunt with Pa. Odigie. The Oba gave license to Pa. Odigie and the two of them (Odigie and Idahosa) proceeded to reside at Obaretin Village for the purpose of killing Elephant. Pa. Odigie and Idahosa stayed with Pa. Imasuen, Odigie’s relations. Both Odigie and Idahose went to about a distance of one mile from Obaretin via Benin – Sapele Road to build a small hot for the purpose of keeping and making the medicine of killing elephant.
Pa. Odigie built a house by the new market place site of the medicine store and Pa. Idahosa built his own at the left hand side where the shrine was stored.
When an Elephant is killed, the foot along with one tooth are sent to the Oba of Benin. After some years, people came to follow-up the founders, Odigie and Idahosa. Pa Odigie went to Uvbe Village and brought his father Ogbegie with his wife Azano. This time, Ogbegie with his children Odigie and Ugiomo were with him in the Ogbeni’s camp, that later turn to Iyanomo.
