About village :

Nkoro is not a village , but a kingdom comprising of many villages.some of these village are on the mainland while the others are across the rivers.the mainland villages are Afakani, Ottoni, King Kpokpo, Diepiriye/Opurokuno, Olom Ama, Job Ama and Olom Nkoro, amongst others.Other villages not on the mainland includes; Iwoama- Nkoro, Ayama I and II, Suku ama, Olilokiri, Dime Ama, Ogor Ama, Obionhuru, etc.The Nkoro people are Ijaws of Okrika extraction, mainly fishermen and petty traders.The people of Nkoro speak Defaka (ijaw) and Okrika dialects, infact the Defaka people constitiute seven out of the about thirty war canoe houses of the ancient Nkoro kingdom and coccupy a vast (over 65%) of the land mass of Nkoro kingdom ranging from Iwoama- Nkoro, Olom ama, job Ama,Ogor Ama,and the Afakani communities.The Nkoro kingdom, like other ijaw kingdoms in the niger Delta is ruled by the war canoe house system, with each war canoe house overseen by a Chief in council under the rulership of the Amanyanagbo of Nkoro- King Kpokpo
