THE HISTORY OF QILA SARDAR ATAR SIGH
1. Sardar Gurmukh Singh Lamba was one of noted general of Maharaja Ranjit Singh.He was wounded fifteen times,eight times by market balls, thrice by sword cuts, thrice by spear thrusts and once by the arrow.He was awarded highest military award IZAZI-i- Sardari and civil awards of Nirmal Bud and Ujjal Didar. His son sardar Atar Singh was residing in the Qila Sardar Ater Singh.[The village took name from the sardar son.]The general and his descendants were having their Jagirs in area ShaPur ,Do BurJi, Chack Wasava,Kot Sater,Pindi Lala and Qila Sardar Atar Singh. Sardar Atar Singh Lamba died in 1888.The potrait Sketch Painting of the sardar is being displayed at Central Museum Of Lahore at serial D-40 with caption.

2. His son Sardar Gyan Singh Lamba was well known personality of District Gujrat and having Lahore Darbar Seat.He had a Havali Sardar Gyan Singh at Dinga.Havali and Mohala Sardar Gyan Singh at Yakki Darwaja Lahore.Sardar and his son Harkrishan Singh Lamba were residing in their Palaces known as Bara Dari situated on road axis Challian Wala-Chak Basava- Mandi Bhaul-ddin.
3.After partition August 1947 ,his family members moved to India and settle at different places.The condition of their fort Sardar Atar Singh started detorating due to lack of interest,repairs and maintance. The walls of the fort started collapsing,the hidden Royal Treasure of the family was discovered in 1951 and the same was confiscated by the Government of Pakistan.

Qila Sardar Atar Singh is historical place,the town ship came up after the construction of historical fort build by general Sardar Gurmukh singh Lamba on his son name Sardar Atar Singh Lamba who resided in the fort and died in 1898.The General had his Jagirs in Nowshera in Shah pur,Pindi Lala, Chak wasava, Kot Scater, Do burji,Rakh Gurmukh Singh(Known nown as Bara Dari) and Qila Sardar Atar Singh in Gujrat. Sardar Atar Singh both sons Sardar Hari Singh Lamba and Sardar Gaingh Singh lived in the fort .After the death of Sardar Hari Singh,his brother Sardar Gyan singh build his palace at Baradari(Rakh Gurmukh Singh) on road axis Chilliawala-Mandi Bahaldin.2.Sardar Gyn Singh Lamba was a man of great influence,having Lahore Durbar seat at his crdit. He had Havali Saedar Gyan Singh at Dinga and Lahore at Yakki Darwaja, the Mohala was known as \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"Mohala Sardar Gyan Singh\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\",his grand son Sardar Sawrn Singh Lamba had a house (House No-92) in Garden Town Lahore.3.The great general of Maharaja Ranjit Singh,Sardar Gurmukh Singh Lamba was wounded fifteen times,he was a recipient of highest military award IZAZI-I-SARDARI and civil awards of Nirmal Bud and Ujjal Diddar. He was with Ranjit Singh at capture of Lahore in 1799. In 1807 he capture fort of Moranda at Kasur. He was commanding a Division,when the Fort of Attock dominating the crossing places was attacked,he crossed the River Indus with the war carry \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"Do or Die\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" Capture famous fort of Rothas from Ghakhar chief Nur Khan father of Fazil Dad Khan in 1825 and handed over to Sardar Mohar Singh. In 1838 ,he was nominated by the Khalsa Sarkar Wazir Jawahar Singh as Political and military commander to defend the gains of Sikh army till Kheber Pass(Pheshwer) and the Fort of Jamrud where sikh general Hari Singh Nalwa died while defending the fort and attack cum siege was repulsed by the Sikh Army in spite of having imbalance in favour of Afghans army and chased the Dost Mohammed troops till the Kyber pass.

Sardar descendent were residing in the fort later shifted to newly build places known as Bara Dari.In August 1947 during the partition descendants move/migrated different places in India.4.In 1951 the fort was neglected due to want of proper care and repairs,walls started collapsing on own,Royal Treasure of the sardar family was discovers and later confiscated by the Government of Pakistan as state property.
