About village :

Bodofava (Bodo), Romania - First mentioned in documents in 1344 as Bodov and then latter in 1401 as Bodofalva. The present Hungarian Village was founded during the days of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1890 as Nagybodofalva by native Hungarian families from the Debrecen and Mako areas, with the Historic Hungarian Reformed Church that was built in 1892. The Church was officially inaugurated on November 1, 1903. After June 4, 1920 (Treaty of Trianon) when it became part of Romania the Hungarian Village was renamed: Bodofalva and latter Bodo. Nagybodofalva (Bodo) had a Hungarian native population of approximately 1328 around the year 1900. According to the 2002 Census the present day the historic Hungarian Village has only a population of approximately 480 (397 Hungarians, 70 Romanians & 13 others) residents.

The Hungarian Reformed Church of Nagybodofalva (Bodo), Romania, built in 1892 was only inaugurated on November 1, 1903 according to Church documents. These days 122 years latter this historic Church is structurally unsafe and deteriorating on daily basis. Please contact the Church\\\\\\\'s Pastor (Rev. Balint Joszef) and present Administrator Mr. Tibor Juhasz for additional information. Services were stopped in the Church more than 2 years ago (according to both the Administrator and the Pastor) because the structure is in severe structural distress and needs to be repaired as soon as practical. Furthermore due to safety concerns Church officials apparently notified the Villages\\\\\\\'s residents that all future religious events were to take place at the Bodo\\\\\\\'s only Elementary School.
