Vasudeo Balwant Phadke (Marathi: वासुदेव बळवंत फडके) (1845-11-04–1883-02-17) was an Indian revolutionary and is widely regarded as the father of the armed struggle for India's independence. Phadke was moved by the plight of the farmer community during British Raj. Phadke believed that ‘Swaraj’ was the only remedy for their ills. With the help of Ramoshis, Kolis, Bhils and Dhangars communities in Maharastra, Vasudev formed a revolutionary group called as Ramoshi. The group started an armed struggle to overthrow the British Raj. The group launched raids on rich English businessmen to obtain funds for their liberation struggle. Phadke came into limelight when he got control of the city of Pune for a few days when he caught the British soldiers off guard during one of his surprise attacks. Dhamari is one of the historical places in Maharashtra.A Great freedom fighter – Krantiveer Vasudev Balvant Fadke made first robbery of British income tax ‘s cash in Dhamari. At the that time late Mr. Balchand Fojmal Sankla was a grocery business man I n dhamari who collects an income tax on behalf of British Govt. Government’s Cash box (Tijori) was placed in his house (wada) only. At that time there was draught, there was no crop production at all but British govt. didn’t gave any type of concession in income tax. So that Vasudev Balvant Fadke & his troops take decision to attack directly on Government’s Cash box & use that money for poor farmers & Freedom fighting expenses. Because of this event the village also known as Bandachi Dhamari. We can see the marks of Ase on the main door of that vada (house) & that cash box (tijori )in the hose of Champalal Sankala – a grandson of Mr. Balchand Sankala. Khandoba Temple in Dhamari Dahmari is also famous in ancient India for Lord Khandoba’s place. Here is one Hemadpanthi temple of Lord Khandoba in the villagae who is the known as God of the Village (Gram-Daivat.).
